Prerequisite Teacher Credential Program

Before applying to our Teacher Credential Program, all required prerequisite courses must be passed or in progress. The prerequisite courses can be completed as an undergraduate student at CSU Channel Islands (CI) or as post-baccalaureate student by applying to the Prerequisite Teacher Credential Program. Applications to this program are accepted for fall and spring.

Teacher Credential Program

Before applying to the Teacher Credential Program, all required prerequisite courses must be completed or in progress. Only those who have completed or are in the process of completing the prerequisite courses can apply to the Teacher Credential Program. Candidates are also expected to have met the Basic Skills (i.e. CBEST) and Subject Matter Competency (i.e. CSET or Waiver Letter) requirements by the application deadline. Only complete applications will be considered for an admission interview. Applications to the Multiple Subject and Single Subject Programs are accepted for fall and spring. Applications to the Education Specialist (Special Education) Program are only accepted for fall.

Please note that admission into the Credential Program is contingent upon admission to the university.

Master of Arts in Education Program

A valid credential and five years of teaching experience is required to apply to the the Educational Leadership and Curriculum & Instruction programs. The Special Education program does not require a credential to apply. Applications are accepted for fall and spring.
