Program Overview

The Prerequisite Credential Program allows you to take the required (5-8) prerequisite courses in education that must be completed before you can be considered for admission into a credential program. Each credential program has different prerequisite courses and you can find those by visiting the specific program page in Credential Programs.

Please note: Taking these courses does not guarantee admission into the Credential program.

Prerequisite courses can be taken as an undergraduate or post-baccalaureate student at CSU Channel Islands (CI). All prerequisite courses must be completed within seven (7) years prior to beginning the credential program with a grade of "C" or better. If you believe you have completed comparable coursework at a different university, you may petition to substitute a course by submitting a Course Substitution Request (PDF, 352KB) to Credential Services.  Coursework completed outside of CI must have been completed within the last 5 years.

Applications for admission to the Prerequisite Credential Program are accepted Fall and Spring.
