The School of Education would like to recognize Ariana Dorado Valenzuela who has been awarded a scholarship from The American Association of University Women (AAUW), Camarillo Branch.  This scholarship will assist Ariana as she pursues her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at CSU Channel Islands, beginning in fall 2020.  This award will allow Ariana to focus on her academics without the stress of having to work a full-time job during her first semester in the credential program.

Ariana graduated from CSUCI in December 2007 with a B.A. Degree in Liberal Studies and chose to return to CI for her teaching credential because she was attracted to the small class sizes and the sense of community.  Ariana has had outstanding teachers and mentors throughout her life that have encouraged her to pursue higher education despite challenges and obstacles she has faced.  Dr. Kathleen Contreras, Coordinator of the Bilingual Authorization shared “Ariana was born to be a teacher! She's bright, caring, bilingual-bicultural, with a strong sense of family values.”  Congratulations Ariana!
