From the Dean

Welcome to the webpages of the School of Education at California State University Channel Islands. I am privileged to serve as the School’s Dean and to work alongside its dedicated and accomplished faculty as they mentor aspiring and career educators. I hope you find these pages informative and engaging, highlighting not only the programs we offer, but also the faculty, staff, and students who contribute to and reflect our success.

From programs in Early Childhood Studies and Elementary Education (Liberal Studies Teaching and Learning options) to post-baccalaureate pathways in Secondary Education and Graduate degrees in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction, we prepare undergraduate and graduate students to be successful professionals in schools and communities. Across these programs, we utilize current research and model instructional practice that presumes all students have the ability to achieve high standards, that defines as effective those educators who adapt pedagogy to reach all students, and that champions diversity (of thought and representation) as a means to make teachers and students better citizens.

Decisions to pursue higher education and/or careers in education are uniquely personal and require thought and deliberation. For this reason, we invite you to learn more about our programs and the many activities we engage in to serve our communities. We hope you will consider joining this energetic, intellectually engaged, and supportive community and welcome the opportunity to show you what we have to offer in person.
