Congratulations to Jacquelin (Jackie) Atwood who has been named a recipient of the 2020 Ventura County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Foundation (VCRTASF).  These scholarships are awarded to future teachers to assist them in achieving their educational goals. Jackie graduated Cum Laude from CSUCI in December 2019, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies. In fall 2020, Jackie will begin the Multiple Subject Credential Program at CSUCI as she continues to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher.

Jackie has been inspired to pursue a career in teaching through her experiences volunteering in her grandmother’s classroom as a teenager, and later as a parent volunteer. She has seen the work and challenge of the classroom at all levels and is looking forward to becoming a teacher and facing those challenges in her own classroom. Jackie chose CSUCI’s Multiple Subject Credential Program because she fell in love with the campus and community when she attended CI for her BA.  She also shared that the support she received from faculty and staff allowed her to balance being both a student and a mother. These positive experiences have led Jackie back to CSUCI and we look forward to supporting her through her credential program and into her teaching career.
