Are you a teacher, school counselor, or certificated personnel interested in becoming a school principal in California? Perhaps you want to pursue the credential first and think about the master’s later? If so, the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) will meet your needs!
The PASC program is closely aligned with our MA in Educational Leadership P-12 Emphasis coursework and prepares candidates for the State of California culminating credential assessment tasks.
Upon completion of the program, candidates are eligible for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
Prior to recommendation for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential certification, the University faculty and credential counselor determine eligibility based on fully documented evidence that each student has demonstrated satisfactory performance on the full range of standards set forth by the CTC, including program completion, passage of the CalAPA exam and five years of successful, full-time teaching experience with an approved employing agency, or five years of successful, full-time experience in the fields of pupil personnel, school nurse, teacher librarian, or speech-language pathology, or clinical or rehabilitative services with an employing agency. Prior to recommendation for the credential, we verify an offer of employment in a full or part-time administrative position in an employing agency. If no such employment has been obtained, CSUCI will recommend the candidate for a Certificate of Eligibility which allows the holder to seek employment in an administrative position.
