Associate Professor of Education, Dr. Michelle Dean, has been named the President’s Faculty Fellow for the 2022-23 academic year. Dr. Dean has been a faculty member at CSUCI since 2014 with her focus in Special Education. She has been the recipient of several professional awards and honors, including the CA LEND Trainee with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and University of Southern California and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Division of Research’s Doctoral Student Scholar in 2011. Additionally, Dr. Dean currently has 8 academic publications.
This leadership opportunity will provide the time and resources needed for her to begin a study on our current disability accommodations at CSUCI. The intent of the study will be to provide a data driven look at how we can better our disability accommodations for anyone who is on campus. The study will look for any gaps that we have and come up with constructive solutions for improvements as well as research the things we do well. During the duration of the study, she will be collaborating closely with President Yao to ensure we are looking at disability accommodation in a systematic way.
