Application Deadlines
Credential Prerequisites (Phase I):
- Spring 2027 application cycle July 1, 2026- October 22, 2026
- Fall 2027 application cycle January 5, 2027- March 2, 2027
Credential Program (Phase II):
- Fall 2027 application cycle January 5, 2027- April 6, 2027
PLEASE NOTE: In order for an application to be considered, it must be submitted by the deadline with ALL application requirements (including exam scores). Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Notice to Students Regarding Professional Licensure and Certification
Applying to a Teaching Credential Program?

Join the Credential Counselors via zoom for application assistance!
Must first satisfy all of the following:
- Attend Teaching Credential Information Session
- Attend 30-min appointment with a Credential Counselor (see "Meet with a Credential Counselor" below)
- Have a Spring 2027 Credential Prerequisite CSUCI Teaching Credential Application in progress.

Candidates who have a bachelor’s degree and still needing to complete prerequisite coursework may complete coursework by either:
- Applying for conditional admission into Phase I
- Taking prerequisite courses during the Fall/Spring via Open University
- Taking prerequisite courses during the summer semester.
**All credential prerequisite courses must be passed with a C or better.
Candidates that have completed/completing credential prerequisites during undergraduate studies or via open/extended university: must apply for full admission into Phase II (student teaching).
- Credential prerequisite courses may still be in progress at the time of application.
- All credential prerequisites must be passed with a C or better prior to the start of Phase II of the program in the Fall.

Current admitted Phase I students preparing to advance to Phase II: must apply for full admission into Phase II (student teaching).
- Eligible and current Phase I candidates will be invited via email to complete an internal application.
- Application Guide: Post Bac_Full Credential
ITEP Juniors who have completed prerequisite courses before entering the program, and hope to complete the ITEP program in their senior year:this is a competitive process, and this type of student must be admitted to the ITEP program through an internal application process.

Do you have a passion for working with students with disabilities? Then, the Education Specialist Credential Program is for you!
This program prepares CI teacher candidates to gain their Preliminary Teaching Credential in Education Specialist -Mild to Moderate Support Needs(MMSN). This credential enables you to work with TK-12 (through age 22) students with various disabilities (including dyslexia, autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and more) who have mild to moderate support needs (including academic needs, communication needs, social and emotional needs, and more).
