Are you a committed classroom teacher or staunch advocate for individuals with disabilities looking to expand your knowledge and skills? Then the MA in Education is for you!
The Master of Arts in Education, designed for educational professionals and community leaders, provides advanced preparation in the study of research issues confronting educators and schooling systems.
The Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) Emphasis is intended for educators who are seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in curriculum, teaching and learning, educational research, and assessment to promote student learning. By combining theory and practice, teachers will be able to improve their own classroom practices, be in a position to assume instructional leadership, curriculum design roles, and professional training in their schools or districts. This emphasis positions educators to pursue graduate work at the doctoral level.
The Disability Studies (DS) Emphasis prepares teachers and professionals for leadership roles in the field of special education and disabilities. Graduates develop, implement, and evaluate programs and policies for individuals with disabilities; mentor special education teachers and allied professionals; conduct professional development and research; serve on policy committees; and advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities.
The Educational Leadership Specialization is designed to develop skills related to leadership, community building, and communication with individuals and groups for professionals at the P12 and Higher Educational levels:
- The P-12 concentration prepares candidates for leadership positions as school principals and for a variety of school leadership positions for which the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential is required.
- The Higher Education concentration prepares candidates for increasingly responsible leadership positions in public and private universities and community colleges.
