About the ECCEC

  • The ECCEC will serve up to 84 children (infants through preschool), in a high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning environment aligned with NAEYC accreditation and Title 5 standards.
  • Priority enrollment will be offered to children of CSUCI students, faculty, and staff, while also welcoming families from across Ventura County.
  • The program will feature inclusive, dual-language classrooms, designed to honor home languages and reflect the cultural richness of the region.
  • A strong emphasis will be placed on natural learning environments and a seamless indoor-outdoor experience that supports whole-child development.
  • Located adjacent to the Early Childhood Studies (ECS) program, the ECCEC will provide hands-on practicum experiences and mentorship opportunities for ECS students preparing to enter the field.
  • The Center will be supported by a Family Child Care Network (FCCN), which extends its impact by helping ECS graduates launch licensed, home-based care programs in underserved communities across the region.

A Longstanding Commitment

The ECCEC has been part of CSUCI’s strategic vision since the University’s founding. Faculty leaders in the School of Education initiated foundational research and assessments over a decade ago, and momentum has steadily grown across campus and with community stakeholders to bring the project to life.
